Message Ok so I've searched this, and found lots of ideas. One is the sending unit. Another is the oil pan. But, seems like this issue may be different..

The mechanic saiys, when the car turns on, it goes to like 60 or 40 psi...

Then as he drives it and the oil warms up, it goes down to 20...then 15...12...etc...and gets down to like 2.

I mentioned it could be the oil pan, but he said no, then it wouldnt pick up when the car is cold. Its DEFINITELY the oil pump. that the teeth are bad ?

The stock guage doesnt work at all, which I guess is what is being referred to as the problem with the sending unit? But if I am correct, the sending unit only sends the signal to the stock guage? And, I have some cheap aftermarket guage that he says works fine...

There is a ticking sometimes, not always. He says after the car is warm, and the oil is hot, thats when the pressure drops and the ticking gets super loud. He's afraid Im going to blow a piston or something.

Oh, its a 2+2 TT Swap, and I dont have an oil cooler. Yet! I'm waiting for him to give me the dimensions so I can buy one. Ive seen them in very different sizes, so just need to make sure how big to go.

So, if you have any ideas on what this could be? Let me know.

I do remember when I first did the swap, and one shop that installed the gauges said i wasnt getting any oil pressure, I took it back to the guy who installed the engine and he said the oil pan was dented and then he removed the dent and that was that. So, not sure if it could have been dented again, but then why would it have pressure when cold then not when it warms up/

Thanks!
